Delta Home Additions & ADU: The Jacksonville Owner’s Guide
If you have a Delta faucet, shower, or tub component that has failed inside a Jacksonville home addition or ADU, we carry and install Delta-compatible parts across the city, and a typical replacement runs between $45,000 and $130,000 for the scope of work involved in a full addition or ADU project. Most owners discover the failure the same way: a slow drip becomes a steady one, a handle turns too far, or the temperature swings hot and cold mid-shower. The part itself is rarely the full story; it is usually the water chemistry in Jacksonville, the age of the rough-in plumbing, or a cartridge that wore out faster than it should have.
We are Elmstead Remodeling Jacksonville, a Cedarwell company. We are an independent service provider, not affiliated with Delta. What that means for you: we match the failed Delta part to the model, give you the written price before any work starts, and clean up when we are done.
Which Delta Models This Applies To

Delta builds faucets and valves across several lines, and not all parts interchange. The three lines we see most often in Jacksonville additions and ADUs are the Monitor series, the MultiChoice rough-in valves, and the newer Trinsic and Essa lines. Monitor valves show up in baths built from the 1990s into the 2010s. MultiChoice rough-ins are common in remodels from the 2010s forward, and they accept several trim kits, which is a real compatibility gotcha: a Delta Trinsic trim will fit a MultiChoice valve, but a Monitor trim will not, and the cartridge differs between a 13/14 series and a 17 series.
To identify what you have, shut off the water and remove the handle. The cartridge will show a part number, often RP19804, RP32104, or similar. Write that number down, not the finish name. The finish name tells you nothing about the internal fit. For older Delta home addition fixtures in Jacksonville, especially those on well water in the Mandarin or northside areas, we sometimes find the seat and springs have worn unevenly. In that case, an OEM repair kit from Delta is the better choice than a universal aftermarket cartridge. We stock OEM Delta kits on the truck for the most common Monitor and MultiChoice valves, and we can order by part number for everything else.

Signs Your Delta Home Additions & ADU Is Failing
- The handle spins without changing temperature. This is almost always a stripped stem or a failed cartridge stem. On Delta Monitor valves, the plastic stem is the weak point, not the brass body.
- Water drips from the tub spout after the valve is off. The cartridge seats or the springs have worn, and water is bypassing. A slow drip in a Jacksonville ADU can send a water bill up before you notice it.
- Hot water suddenly turns cold mid-shower. The pressure-balancing spool inside the cartridge has seized, usually from mineral buildup. Jacksonville water, especially in older neighborhoods with aging supply lines, carries enough calcium to cause this.
- The trim plate is leaking from behind. This is not always the part you think. Often the valve body itself has developed a pinhole or the solder joints behind the wall have failed. That means opening the wall, which changes the job.
- The handle is loose or falls off. A retaining screw has backed out or the handle adapter cracked. Easy fix, but if the adapter threads are stripped, the whole trim kit needs replacing, not just the handle.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

For a Delta home addition or ADU in Jacksonville, the full project range is $45,000 to $130,000. Within that, a bathroom rebuild where the failed Delta fixture lives typically lands between $9,000 and $28,000. A small bathroom with a tub-to-shower conversion runs $3,500 to $10,000. If the failure is isolated to a cartridge or valve, the repair is a few hundred dollars on its own. But when the wall must be opened, tile repaired, and the valve replaced, the number climbs accordingly.
Every scope of work from us includes the written price before anything starts. No allowance line items that quietly grow. Named materials, labor broken into stages, and the 365-Day Done Right Promise on every completed project. If it is not done right, we make it right.
DIY or Call Us?
A cartridge swap on a Delta faucet is within reach for a careful homeowner: shut off the water, pull the retention clip, slide the old cartridge out, and reverse the process. The danger is not the cartridge. The danger is what sits behind the wall: pressurized water lines, aged shutoff valves that snap when turned, and tile that cracks when the trim plate is pried off the wrong way. If the shutoff valves at the fixture are old or have not been exercised in years, do not force them. A snapped shutoff valve in a Jacksonville ADU means the whole water supply is down until a plumber arrives.
For anything behind the wall, or any pressure-balancing valve that is not cooperating, call us at (904) 643-6243. We would rather walk you through the simple check than have you turn a small repair into a flood.
FAQs

Expect 8 to 12 years in Jacksonville, but hard water in the Riverside, Avondale, and Ortega areas can cut that to 5 or 6 years without a water softener. Mineral scale is the number one reason we replace Delta cartridges early in this city.
If the failure is inside the cartridge, repair is straightforward and costs far less than replacement. If the valve body itself is cracked, pinhole-leaking, or the seats inside are heavily pitted, replacement is the honest fix. We will tell you which one you need before you pay anything. Call (904) 643-6243 for an exact assessment.
Cartridge-only work is done in under an hour. A full valve replacement that opens the wall usually takes one day for the plumbing and another for tile repair and cleanup. The dumpster and drop cloths arrive on day one, and we photograph the cleanup before we leave.
Yes. We carry OEM Delta cartridges and repair kits for the most common Monitor and MultiChoice valves, plus trim for the lines we install. We also regularly work with KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone materials on the same jobs, so the fixture and the room around it are handled in one scope.
Name the material, name the day, name the price, then there is nothing left to wonder about. Call (904) 643-6243 for a free estimate. We will send someone who answers your questions in plain language, gives you a written price before work starts, and leaves your Jacksonville home with the floors covered and the job done right.
