CertainTeed Driveway & Pavers: The Jacksonville Owner’s Guide
We stock and install CertainTeed-compatible driveway and paver products across Jacksonville, with most paver driveway installations running $7,000 to $18,000 depending on square footage and site conditions. If you’re here because a paver has cracked, sunk, or shifted after a North Florida storm cycle, or because the sand joints are washing out, you’re in the right place. Most owners discover the problem the same way: one paver starts rocking underfoot near the garage apron, then a crack spider-webs across three more before the month ends.
CertainTeed’s paver line is less known than their roofing and siding, but the pavers they’ve produced over the years share a common trait: they’re modular, meaning a failed section can usually be pulled and reset without ripping out the whole driveway. That’s good news for your budget. The bad news is that Jacksonville’s heat-and-rain cycle is brutal on the sand base underneath, and once the base erodes, no amount of re-leveling the surface will fix it. We’re an independent contractor, not affiliated with CertainTeed, but we work with their products regularly enough to know what holds up here and what doesn’t.
Which CertainTeed Models This Applies To

CertainTeed has produced pavers under a few distinct lines over the years, and the part you need depends on which line you have. The most common we see in Jacksonville driveways are the CertaDrive and CertainTeed PaverStone lines, along with older installations that predate the current naming. The fastest way to identify yours is to look at the paver’s edge profile. CertaDrive pavers have a distinct beveled lip that creates a shadow line between courses. PaverStone units are squarer-edged and sit tighter together.
Here’s the compatibility gotcha most owners miss: paver thickness varies by application. Pavers made for pedestrian patios run 60mm thick. Driveway pavers need to be 80mm thick to survive vehicle weight. If you replace a broken driveway paver with a 60mm patio paver because it matches the color, it will crack within a season. We measure every paver we replace, and we check the base depth under it. The base matters more than the paver itself in this climate.
For aftermarket options: several quality manufacturers make dimensional equivalents to CertainTeed pavers, but color matching across brands is rarely exact. We’re honest about this on the walk-through. If you want a seamless repair, we source CertainTeed or a verified color-matched equivalent. If you’re open to a slight tone difference, aftermarket pavers can save you 15 to 25 percent on the part itself. We’ll show you samples before we order.

Signs Your CertainTeed Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
- Rocking or tipping pavers near the garage apron. This means the sand bedding under the paver has eroded, usually from water running along the foundation edge. A rocking paver is the earliest warning sign; ignore it and the paver cracks next.
- Hairline cracks spreading across multiple pavers in a line. This indicates a low spot in the base that’s flexing under load. You’ll see the crack pattern follow the same direction every time you back out.
- Sand washing out of the joints after every rain. Jacksonville’s afternoon downpours move fine sand fast. If you see sand running toward your lawn after a storm, the joints are losing their locking medium and the pavers will begin shifting laterally.
- Sinking or depressions that hold water for hours after rain. This is a base failure, not a paver failure. The compacted stone underneath has settled or washed away. Replacing the top paver alone won’t fix it.
- Color fading that’s patchy rather than uniform. CertainTeed pavers use a color-infused top layer. When the top layer wears through in high-traffic tire tracks, the gray concrete core shows through. This is cosmetic but telling you the paver’s wearing course is thinning.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

Here’s what we quote in Jacksonville, and we give you this in writing before any work starts:
- Single paver replacement (labor, materials, joint sand): $250 to $700 for a small repair area
- Section repair (10 to 50 square feet, base refill and compaction): $1,500 to $4,000
- Paver driveway installation (new, full driveway): $7,000 to $18,000
- Driveway replacement (remove old surface, regrade, new pavers): $5,000 to $14,000
The range depends on three things: how much base stone we need to re-set (Jacksonville soil runs sandy, so deeper base work costs more), whether the old pavers can be salvaged, and the size of the area in square feet. You’ll always see the parts and labor as separate line items. Graham Stein writes every scope in plain language so you can read the estimate without calling to ask what anything means. The 365-Day Done Right Promise applies to the completed work. If it’s not done right, we make it right.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check a few things yourself. Walk the driveway after a rain and mark pavers that hold water. Sweep a section and watch whether joint sand is missing between specific courses. Measure one paver from the side to confirm whether it’s 60mm or 80mm thick. These checks take ten minutes and help you describe the issue when you call.
What we wouldn’t do ourselves without the right tools is pull pavers near a load-bearing edge. Jackhammer work near a garage slab, base compaction with a plate tamper, and re-grading for drainage are not weekend projects. Get the base wrong and you’ll be back at the same repair in eighteen months. We bring the tamper, the stone, and the crew that knows how much compaction a Florida base actually needs. Call (904) 643-6243 and we’ll take a look.
FAQs

CertainTeed driveway pavers typically last 20 to 30 years in Jacksonville when the base is properly compacted and the joints are re-sanded every few years. The top wear layer usually fades before the paver structurally fails.
Hairline surface cracks can sometimes be sealed, but a cracked structural driveway paver is almost always replaced. Patching a cracked paver looks worse than replacing it and doesn’t restore the paver’s load capacity.
Most section repairs take one to two days, depending on base work and how many pavers need resetting. Single paver replacements are usually finished the same day.
We don’t keep every CertainTeed paver on hand, but we can source the correct match in a few business days. We also work with compatible aftermarket pavers from several quality manufacturers, along with products from KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone for kitchen and bath work.
Name the material, name the day, name the price, then there is nothing left to wonder about. Call (904) 643-6243 for a free estimate on your paver repair or driveway project.
